WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) -- Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed married Julia Hart on Saturday in a ceremony at the United States Military Academy, which Reed, a former Army Ranger, attended.

Reed, 55, and Hart, 39, were wed in a ceremony at the academy�s Catholic Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity. Rev. Raymond Malm, pastor of St. Michael�s Church in Providence, R.I., officiated. The couple�s attendants included eight of their nieces, as well as other family and friends.

A luncheon reception was to follow at the academy�s James H. Herbert Alumni Center. Hart, of Arlington, Va., is an Interparliamentary Coordinator in the Office of the Secretary of the United States Senate, Interparliamentary Services. The office handles the Senate�s international travel as well as other contact with foreign governments. She and Reed, D-R.I., first met on a trip to Afghanistan in 2002.

The pair didn�t begin dating until August 2003, after a chance meeting in Rhode Island, where Hart was visiting family.

They were engaged Nov. 24, 2004, during a visit to New York City to see the Macy�s Thanksgiving Day parade and tour the Gilbert Stuart exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum.

The couple was not planning an immediate honeymoon trip. Reed was expected back at work in the Senate in the coming week.
