Governor endorses aircraft carrier museum plan
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

PROVIDENCE, R.I. Governor Carcieri has offered his support for a proposed museum ship at Quonset Point.

The USS Saratoga Museum Foundation hopes to bring the aircraft carrier of the same name to Quonset and run it as a historical attraction.

They say the governor has agreed to support the project. He's said they can have space at Quonset.

The project had been on hold as the governor reviewed the proposal. Now, the foundation needs to raise an estimated 10 million dollars to prove the project is viable.

The foundation operates the Russian Sub Museum in Providence.
