Judge in Florida approves abortion for 13-year-old
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. A judge in Florida says a 13-year-old girl can have an abortion. The girl, identified only as L-G, has been in state custody for four years. And her case has been at the center of an abortion fight.
Florida's Department of Children and Families says she is too young and immature to decide for herself whether to end her pregnancy.
However the judge who initially blocked her from getting an abortion until she could be psychologically evaluated says she won't be physically or emotionally harmed.
The judge's decision was released yesterday.
State officials have not said if they'll appeal.
