Prosecution psychiatrist to testify in trial of accused highway shooter
COLUMBUS, Ohio A psychiatrist is set to testify today that a man accused of firing at cars on Ohio highways understood the shootings were wrong. Yesterday, a psychiatrist said Charles McCoy Junior was prompted by voices he heard in his head that accused him of being a "wimp" and a "wuss" who wouldn't stand up for himself.
He also said McCoy told him the voices would stop for awhile after each shooting or after he dropped building supplies onto highways.
McCoy's attorneys concede he was behind a dozen shootings from 2003 to 2004 but they say mental illness kept him from understanding his actions were wrong.
