Two pedestrians struck, killed on Providence streets
(AP) -- Providence police are investigating two separate incidents in which pedestrians were struck and killed.
On Thursday at about 9 p-m, a vehicle traveling westbound on Manton Avenue struck and killed 34-year-old Darnell Wise as he tried to cross the street.
The driver was identified as 31-year-old Hogop Saribekian of Cranston. The incident is under investigation.
About half an hour later on Thursday evening, Gladys Lopez was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver near 924 Broad Street.
Police are looking for what witnesses described as a dark-colored Chevy Lumina.
Lopez was crossing the street when she was struck. She died yesterday at Rhode Island Hospital.
Police are also seeking a green pickup truck with plastic covering the passenger side window in connection with the incident.
