Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Campaign reports filed with the Federal Election Commission show Republican Senator Lincoln Chafee raised about 136-thousand dollars during the first quarter of 2005.

Chafee is likely to face a strong challenge in his re-election Campaign. Two DemocratsSecretary of State Matt Brown and former Attorney General Sheldon Whitehousehave announced theyll seek Chafees seat.

Chafee should add to his campaign coffers this weekend with a fund-raising event in Tennessee with G-O-P leader Bill Frist.

Chafee has about 765-thousand dollars in cash on hand. His spokesman says they expect to spend about three (m) million dollars in the campaign.
