Bush getting set for four-nation European trip
WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting ready for a four-nation European trip -- that'll likely involve some tricky diplomacy. The president leaves early tomorrow for the visit, which is centered around celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany.
The main observance is Monday in Moscow, where Vladimir Putin will host 50 other world leaders for a parade through Red Square.
But Bush is also visiting Latvia and Georgia, two countries formerly ruled by the Soviet Union. Many in the Baltics look on the end of World War Two as the start of a new, Communist tyranny. In fact, the Latvians are refusing to attend Monday's festivities.
Bush's challenge will be to salute Russia's wartime sacrifice -- while at the same time reaching out to nations that fell under Moscow's heel.
