Head Start Daycare is Getting Community Help
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- The Providence day care center trashed by vandals last month is getting some help from Hasbro. The Pawtucket-based toy company is donating 10-thousand dollars to Providence Head Start. It's the latest donation from concerned companies and citizens who've stepped forward to help the center get back on its feet.
Providence Mayor David Cicilline also said that city employees have raised 23-hundred dollars. Last month, vandals trashed the center. Bottles were broken on the floor, wooden shelves were pulled from the wall, computers were overturned and jumbo crayons plugged the toilets.
Industrial cleaning fluid was taken from a locked cabinet and poured on the rugs and floor, as well as books, papers and lesson plans.
