Community college president stays, but board wants improvement
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- The embattled president of the Community College of Rhode Island is staying on, at least for now, despite a sometimes-critical review of his performance. The state Board of Governors for Higher Education reviewed a report on Thomas Sepe's job performance this week. Sepe himself called reading the report humbling. But he praised it for being thorough and professional. The Providence Journal reports board members want to see Sepe's plans for fixing rifts in the divided community college system. C-C-R-I's faculty union held a vote of no confidence in Sepe earlier this year, and had asked the board to fire him next month.
