Accuser's mother tests judge's patience in Jackson trial
SANTA MARIA, Calif. For three days this week, the mother of Michael Jackson's accuser tried to redefine witness behavior. The prosecution witness used a melodramatic manner, and would face the jury, using hand gestures and exclamations to answer questions. During her cross-examination, the judge had many of her narrative answers stuck from the record, along with her barbed criticisms of Jackson's attorney.
Once when the judge ordered her to stop making speeches, she exclaimed: "I've waited two years for this!"
Questioned about the seemingly sincere pro-Jackson video she made with her three children, the woman insisted they were forced to act out a memorized script.
The video was made before Jackson allegedly molested her son, and the woman has concentrated almost entirely on the charge Jackson held her family prisoner.
Her cross-examination continues Monday.
