Historic library gets federal grant
NEWPORT, R.I. The historic Redwood Library in Newport has won a 500-thousand dollar federal grant. The 18th-century structure is the oldest continuous lending library in the country.
The money will be used to update wiring, fire protection and light fixtures. Bathrooms and elevators will also be updated.
