State unemployment rate falls slightly in November
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

PROVIDENCE, R.I. The unemployment rate in Rhode Island last month was down slightly from the previous month, and remains below the national rate.

According to the Department of Labor and Training, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for November was 4.4 percent, down a tenth of a percentage point from October.

That's the lowest rate since January 2001.

The November rate was also a full percentage point below the national rate of 5.4 percent. It was the third straight month the state rate was below the national one.

Labor and Training Director Adelita Orefice says the small increase in jobs in November is encouraging.

Rhode Island added 400 jobs last month.
