NEWPORT, R.I. A 68-year-old woman was in critical condition at Rhode Island hospital after her niece allegedly attacked her with bleach.

Forty-four-year-old Evangeline Henry of Middletown was charged with felony assault for the attack on the woman.

Police responded Wednesday to the Newport housing complex after receiving a 911 call about someone calling for help.

The officers found Henry and the victim, determined to be her aunt, on the floor.

The victim was soaked in bleach, and suffered chemical burns over a large portion of her body.

Henry was also transported to the hospital, where she was also treated and released.

Henry appeared in District Court yesterday, where she posted two-thousand dollars surety bail.
