Broadcast satellite launched from Kennedy Space Center aboard new rocket
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER An Atlas Five rocket has lifted off to deliver a comunications satellite to orbit. The 196-foot-tall rocket blasted off just after dawn from the Kennedy Space Center, carrying gear to provide direct-to-home video and broadband services to subscribers across the continental U-S and Hawaii.
It's the fourth launch of Lockheed Martin's replacement for the Atlas Two and Atlas Three rockets.
Company officials refuse to say how much the mission costs, but a similar flight was reported to have cost a-quarter (b) billion dollars.
