Rhode Island's first lady speaks about substance abuse
WOONSOCKET, R.I. The first lady of Rhode Island is in Woonsocket this morning to speak about the dangers of alcohol and drugs. Suzanne Carcieri also will talk about the advantages of reading at Social Street Elementary School.
It's all part of "Scholastic Read for 2005 Day," which is being marked today. The objective is for teachers, parents and students to read a book for at least 2005 seconds -- about a half-hour.
