Reward offered in killing of sandhill cranes
MACK, Colo. A 51-hundred-dollar reward is being offered for information about the killing of five sandhill cranes in western Colorado. Authorities discovered the dead birds last month west of Grand Junction.
A state wildlife manager says the birds had been "intentionally shot, killed and left to rot."
An anonymous area sportsman contributed five-thousand dollars of the reward.
There are about 15-thousand of the long-legged birds in the Rockies. Many stop in Colorado in the spring and fall on their annual migrations between New Mexico and Idaho.
Even though they're not endangered, the killer could face several misdemeanor charges.
