Urban Mobility Report
As you head out the door this morning, are you prepared for what awaits you out on the road? We sifted through a new report and uncovered the grim details on your commute.
The Pinpoint News Tracker takes a look at the local focus of the study- routes 95, 195 and 295.
One key stat- in 1983 these roads left you in an average of five hours of traffic a year. In 2003, that average climbed to 33 hours a year.
It is called the 2005 Urban Mobility Report, but if you take a look at 195, it is a report that focuses more on immobility.
After digging into the report, we discovered the Providence traffic problem ranks 33rd worst out of 85 areas surveyed. Boston is even slower, ranking 18th.
Eyewitness News traffic expert Mike Sheridan agrees.
And while traffic may be worse in bigger cities like Boston , drivers know all it takes is one accident or construction project to turn our roadways into parking lots.
By the way, as frustrated as you might be in this area, In Boston, the average driver spends 51 hours in traffic every year. .
