North Carolina pastor accused of ousting members over politics resigns
WAYNESVILLE, N.C. A North Carolina pastor accused of booting members out of the church for political beliefs has resigned. The Reverend Chan Chandler announced his resignation as he left a closed-door meeting at the East Waynesville Baptist Church. He said he was leaving with gratitude in his heart.
Members of the small church in western North Carolina say Chandler had openly endorsed President Bush from the pulpit before and after the election.
Nine members of the church say they were ousted at a gathering last week.
