More critics call for mayor's resignation

SPOKANE, Wash. There's a growing chorus calling for the resignation of Spokane, Washington, Mayor James West.

West, a longtime opponent of gay rights, is on a leave of absence to fight allegations of child molestation. The city's daily newspaper, The Spokesman-Review, reported the allegations. It also says West offered city jobs to men he met in gay online chat rooms.

The newspaper, the Seattle Times, a Democratic state senator and two City Council members are calling for him to resign.

The city attorney has launched an investigation of allegations that West offered internships in exchange for sex. His use of city computers is also being examined.
