F-B-I to conduct internal review
Washington-AP -- F-B-I Director Robert Mueller (MUHL'-ur) wants to make the agency more trustworthy. He's ordered a review of the office that investigates employee wrongdoing and takes disciplinary action. The F-B-I Office of Professional Responsibility has been accused of having two-tier disciplinary systems for supervisors and field agents, and of minimizing allegations of retaliation against whistleblowers.
Mueller says F-B-I employees need to trust that allegations of wrongdoing will be investigated and discipline will be fair. He says the public needs to trust that the bureau holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism.
He says the review is partly a response to problems detailed in media reports and investigations by the Justice Department and Congress.
