Doctor James Welsh says consumers who took Cardizem or it's generic equivalents between 1998 and 2003 may be entitled to some money.

That's because the case alleges that the drug makers violated antitrust laws and overcharged consumers purchasing the drug, and now consumers are entitled to a portion of a 21-million dollar settlement.

"As a practicing physician, I am concerned about my low income patients who are on maintenance medications like Cardizem that need to take them on a regular basis who may have difficulty affording their medication."
The lawsuit was brought by the Attorney's General of all 50 states and now they say it's time for the drug maker to pay up. The defendants have denied any wrongdoing or liability.
To participate in the settlement consumers need to act before September 23, 2003.
