Friday Ripoffs-Coral Calcium
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

Time now for Eyewitness News Call for Action.   It's being marketed as a potential "cure-all" for more than 200 illnesses including cancer! . But the makers of coral calcium are under fire. . Problem Solver Susan Hogan has tonight's Friday Rip-Offs.

The Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission are taking action against the makers of coral calcium. . They claim the company is making outrageous claims, and they've even pulled the infomercials off the air. Thousands of consumers truly believed the claims...that coral calcium is the best source of calcium for your bones, and even a cure all for cancer, heart disease, diabetes and arthritis!

Robert Heaney, MD, and Professor at an Osteoporosis research center says  the FTC and the FDA say the claims are false, and misleading and believe the coral calcium pushers have deceived consumers.  Dr. Heaney  says there is no doubt calcium is very important in maintaining good heath, but for Coral Calcium to claim it's the best source, the government agencies and doctors say..it's going too far. . In a new nationwide survey, it revealed that 40 percent of consumers believe the unproven claim that coral supplements have greater health benefits than regular calcium supplements.
