Frugal Fashions
We spent weeks in search of finding fashionable clothing at a good price. It's not an easy task at all. But good deals are out there, it's just a matter of knowing where to go. We found someone who knows where the deals are. She's a professional shopper, with 15 years of experience. Judith Rosenthal helps us in our quest for frugal fashions.
Judith and our cameras went shopping at stores and on line to find some fantastic fashions at great prices. "We're looking to spend the absolute least amount but get really good quality." Judith began her quest at Cohoes, a store that sells designer labels for less. We asked her to find us a casual outfit and a business suit.
"here's a nice pair of casual pants.." One step in the door, Judith already finds a pair of Anne Klein pants, normally $89, Cohoes price, $59.98.
"Let's look for something to go with these." On we go in search of a casual top. "It's a great length, it looks warm and cozy and it's got some of that current detail. So there's a great little casual outfit right there."
The sweater is $39.98, making this outfit just under $100.00, add to it a dressier sweater to change the look of the pants. Two outfits for the price of one.
Two sweaters, a pair of casual pants, and two suits and our Cohoes total: $466.91...
Now off to Syms.
Judith scours the racks for casual pants. "These big long straight racks, it takes a little bit longer." Once Judith navigates through the overstuffed racks she finds what she is looking for. "Okay, here was go."
A pair of black slacks. "These are $39.98, regularly $75.00
Quite a deal, Judith recommends a silk top to go with them, a Syms savings of $26.00. This casual outfit cost us $70, as compared to $100 at Cohoes. But we had trouble finding comparable suits here. "I find here at Syms, that there's the coture or mid-low end range suits and not a whole lot in between."
Despite that, we were able to get two suits, casual pants and one sweater for $527
"I like to be able to touch and feel, but it's certainly worth checking out." Judith says internet shopping can save you from the hassels of crowds but it's not always easy to find what you're looking for.
"Make sure you stay focused and look for just that. So you're not just buying a bargain because it's a bargain, b/c then it's not and it just hangs there."
