Discovery of book lost decades ago revives honeymoon memories
EAGAN, Minn. A sheriff's sergeant has been able to unlock the past and unleash a flood of memories for an 88-year-old Minnesota man. Last week he returned Carl Jensen's long-lost honeymoon trip planner.
The 1940 Conoco Touraide found in a county property room was filled with road maps, pictures and handwritten notes. They detailed the trip Jensen and his wife took to Brainerd and Duluth 65 years ago.
Among other things, it notes the 20 cents a gallon they paid for gas and the 85 cents they blew on drinks and a tip in Duluth.
Jensen, whose wife died last month, says seeing the book "would have brightened her face."
