State says itÔŅĹs removed stench from Warwick neighborhood
WARWICK, R.I. (AP) -- State officials say the stench that has plagued a Warwick neighborhood is gone.
Crews from the Department of Environmental Management removed more than 30 tons of rotting seaweed from the Conimicut Point area last week. It got stuck in the shallow cove, and northeasterly winds kept it from floating out into Narragansett Bay.
Residents had complained of a sulphur-like smell.
