Suspect in double homicide arraigned in court

PROVIDENCE, R.I. The suspect in a double homicide witnessed by a teenage girl has been arraigned on the charges.

Roberto Diaz did not enter a plea in his first court appearance yesterday in Providence District Court. The double-murder charge and other charges will now be considered by a grand jury. Meanwhile, Diaz is scheduled to appear May Second in Providence Superior Court for a bail hearing and a hearing on a probation violation.

Diaz is accused of murdering Barbara Reigosa, his common-law wife but recently separated. He also allegedly killed Dirmas Rodezno, a man with whom Reigosa was romantically involved.

The murders took place last Friday, when Diaz confronted Reigosa as she was leaving her home, shooting and stabbing her. Reigosa's 14 year old daughter witnessed the slayings, according to police.
