Jackson defense argues for acquittal but is ready to present its case today
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

SANTA MARIA, Calif. Michael Jackson's defense attorneys will argue for their client's acquittal today, now that the prosecution has finished its two-month presentation.

The defense believes it has a particularly strong argument for dismissal of the conspiracy charge against Jackson.

His attorneys have tried to show the accuser's family was not falsely imprisoned at the singer's ranch. The attorneys say the family left three times, choosing to return after the first two departures.

The defense will argue that even if some Jackson aides conspired to hold the family, no witnesses or phone records have tied Jackson himself to the plot.

The judge will hear arguments on the acquittal motion first thing this morning without the jury present. If the motion's rejected, the defense will begin presenting its case to the jury immediately afterward.
