Dog racing suspended at Lincoln Park due to kennel cough outbreak
LINCOLN, R.I. Dog racing at Lincoln Park has been suspended for now because of an outbreak of kennel cough. Lincoln Park first suspended races on Saturday, after 30 dogs became ill. Racing will resume when the dogs' health improves, but officials aren't sure when that will be.
Meanwhile, there's a dog quarantine at the park. Park spokesman Michael Trainor says no dogs are in serious danger. He says kennel cough is to dogs what a cold is to people.
Similar kennel cough outbreaks have been reported at dog racing facilities in Arkansas, Texas, and Florida, according to The Providence Journal.
