Finance officials press ahead on debt relief for poor nations
WASHINGTON World finance ministers and central bankers are wrapping up two days of talks in Washington. The agenda included rising oil prices and the question of wiping out the crushing debts of the world's poorest nations.
World Bank and the International Monetary Fund delegates say they're making progress on the lingering debt issue. They say a deal might be possible at this summer's summit of world leaders in Scotland.
But international aid groups say they're disappointed that no agreement was struck this weekend. They say further delay could worsen the plight of the world's poorest people.
