Providence mayor to outline plans for city
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

PROVIDENCE, R.I. Providence Mayor David Cicilline will take the stage tonight for the state of the city address.

Cicilline is expected to tout his administration for transforming Providence into an open, honest and efficient city.

He also plans to announce strategies for strengthening the city's 25 neighborhoods and talk about economic development reaching beyond downtown.

But Cicilline also faces some challenges. His biggest immediate hurdle is providing adequate funding of city schools, which face a deficit projected at about 20 to 24 million dollars.

Cicilline will make his remarks at seven p.m. at the Rhode Island Convention Center.
