Middletown senior advocate to join Congressman for state of the union
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

PROVIDENCE, R.I. A Middletown woman who advocates for senior citizens will be Congressman Kennedy's guest at the president's state of the union address.

U.S. Representative Patrick Kennedy says Kathleen Connell will join him for the event. She is the current state director for AARP Rhode Island.

She previously served three terms as Rhode Island's secretary of state and was a state senator before that.

Kennedy says he wanted Connell to be his guest because it seems President Bush will spend a large part of his speech discussing Social Security.

He says he considers Connell a leading voice for senior citizens and thought she should hear the speech firsthand.
