New Hampshire restaurant faces charges stemming from 2001 crash that killed six
WAKEFIELD, N.H. A New Hampshire restaurant has been charged with serving drinks to two intoxicated men who shortly afterward plowed into a minivan, killing themselves and four others. Authorities say the Pine River Steak House -- in Wakefield -- is charged with negligence in two felony indictments, each punishable by a fine of up to 100-thousand-dollars.
Casey Davis and Aaron Parent had been at a bachelor's party before they stopped at the steak house in 2001. Davis is believed to have been driving at more than 100 miles-per-hour when he drove head-on into a loaded mini-van. Investigators determined Davis' blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
Besides both men, the 2001 crash killed a 24-year-old pregnant woman and three children.
The restaurant has already reached civil settlements with families of the victim.
