Online application available for Canadian pharmacies

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- A new Web link has been set up to help Canadian pharmacies apply to sell prescription drugs in Rhode Island.

Rhode Island is the first state to implement a general licensing program for Canadian pharmacies.

The Department of Health started accepting applications last week. They had received two. The link on the Health DepartmentÔŅĹs Web site is to the application. The state says having the application online will make it more quickly available.

The goal of the new law is to make cheaper prescription drugs available to Rhode Islanders.
