We Expose The Fakes For The Real Deal
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

We expose the fakes for the real deal.  Counterfeiters are selling retailers a bill of goods and good hearted consumers are caught in the middle.

You've seen them just about everywhere, they're the fashion must have!  These yellow rubber wristbands bearing the imprint "LIVESTRONGďż˝ itďż˝s the creation of cancer survivor Lance Armstrong.

But consumers beware; counterfeiters are preying on your good will and selling ' LIVESTRONG ' look-alikes. For one dollar, Eyewitness News bought these "LIVESTRONG " wristbands from Ann and Hope's dollar depot. Even our receipt says cancer bracelets but these colorful bracelets are nothing more than fakes.

In fact, when we checked with the Lance Armstrong foundation we were told that LIVESTRONG wristbands are only yellow and only a few retailers are authorized to sell them. Ann and Hope is not one of them. A spokesperson for the store told us that they had no idea that they weren't selling the real deal and since eyewitness news made them aware of this, the wristbands have been.

Ann and Hope estimates that they sold 26-hundred of these wristbands and sine has donated 26-hundred dollars to the Lance Armstrong foundation. Go to www.laf.org to learn more.
