Fire kills three boys from same family during Passover observances
NEW YORK New York city authorities say they believe a fire that killed three boys from the same family may have been ignited by a stove that had been left on for three days. Leaving the oven on is a custom observed during Passover in some Orthodox Jewish communities as their religious custom forbids certain activities during holy days, including turning on stoves.
Six other people were taken to a hospital after yesterday's blaze, and two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
A community representative says one of the boys who died recently had his bar mitzvah, and that the boys were "happy, well-educated, with a bright future in life."
