Grants awarded to four historical institutions
WASHINGTON Four Rhode Island historical institutions are getting federal grants. The funds are going to the Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum in Bristol, Tomaquag Indian Memorial Museum in Exeter, the Rhode Island Historical Society in Providence, and the Little Compton Historical Society.
The funds come under the Conservation Assessment and the Museum Assessment programs of the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The nearly eight-thousand dollars each going to Blithewold Mansion, the Tomaquag museum and Rhode Island Historical Society will be used to fund a two-day visit by a conservation professional who will assess the institution's conservation efforts.
The Little Compton Historical Society is getting nearly four-thousand dollars for technical assistance.
