"Triple C" Drug Warning
The state Department of Mental Health, Retardation and Hospitals is sending a letter of warning. They say the drug nicknamed ``Triple C'' is becoming popular with teenagers.
Officials say Coricidin Cough and Cold tablets and more than one hundred other medications contain the drug dextromethorphan. Which can cause an LSD-like high. Health officials say teens are taking three and four times the required doses to get high.
Abuse of "Triple C" can cause various health problems, including seizures and paranoia. Due to this warning Coventry Senator and local pharmacist Leo Blais is urging drugstores to put Coricidin behind the counter.
