Prosecution will rest next week in Michael Jackson trial
SANTA MARIA, Calif. Prosecutors in Michael Jackson's molestation trial plan to rest their case next week. The judge hopes to resolve some pending motions by then, so jurors will hear just a half-day of testimony today and tomorrow. No session is planned Friday.
Before ending five days on the stand, the accuser's mother said she was never told fundraisers were held for her cancer-stricken son at a Hollywood comedy club.
She said she didn't know donations were being deposited into a special account she opened, but she acknowledged making withdrawals from it.
She denied knowing anything about her son calling Jay Leno to ask for money, as the defense contends.
Leno is among the celebrities on the list of potential defense witnesses and may well be called to testify about that alleged call, or calls.
