Nine-Eleven Commission goes to New York
New York-AP -- The Nine-Eleven Commission today is opening two days of hearings in New York. A who's who of the city's current and former police and fire chiefs will be testifying. Other speakers will include Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his predecessor, Rudy Giuliani.
The questioning is expected to focus on communication failures between the police and fire departments -- something critics say hindered rescue efforts immediately after the World Trade Center attacks.
But commission members also want to dispel what they say are misconceptions about the city's emergency response.
The bipartisan Nine-Eleven Commission's final report is to be issued July 26th.
