Rep. Kennedy to Introduce Legislation to Wire Hospitals
(Providence-AP) -- Congressman Patrick Kennedy wants the health care industry to enter the information age. He says medical errors can be reduced and efficiency increased if hospitals stored all their data on computers.
He said less than five percent of doctors use electronic health records.
Kennedy plans on introducing a bill in Congress to implement a paperless health care system by 2015. The Democratic congressman made his remarks during a discussion with medical and business professionals in Providence.
