Station Fire Anniversary Memorial

Details concerning the 1st Anniversary Memorial at the Station Nightclub site on February 20th:

  • The event is a tribute and honor to the surviving and deceased victims of the club fire tragedy.
  • It will be a non-alcoholic event.
  • Candles will be prohibited for public safety reasons.  Flashlights and glowsticks will be used in place of candles.  There will be a supply of glowsticks at the site for people who cannot buy them beforehand.
  • The ceremony will begin promptly at 10pm conclude at 11:07pm.  People are encouraged to be on the site by 9:30pm.
  • There will be no parking at the site or surrounding streets.  3 RIPTA buses will transport people to the site from the designated parking area at Met Life on Quaker Lane.  The buses will run continuously every six to eight minutes from Met Life to the site from 6:30pm until midnight.
  • The West Warwick Fire Department has created 2 different traffic flow plans:  If the crowd is small, only Kulas Road will be closed to traffic.  As needed, police could also close Cowesett Avenue from Narragansett Avenue to Coit Avenue at any point in the evening.  Proper detours will be in place.  Police request people use alternate routes of travel that evening.
  • Vicitms and families will have the opportunity to speak to the press if they choose.
