New football helmet debuts Saturday, aimed at reducing injuries
Litchfield, Connecticut-AP -- The classic football match-up between Army and Navy this Saturday will also be demonstrating the latest in gridiron technology -- improved helmets. The new helmets borrow from shock-absorbing technology designed to protect Army paratroopers from head injuries.
Schutt Sports will start selling the helmet in January, and two competitors have already introduced new models to help reduce the risk of concussions.
The financial stakes are big -- about two (M) million players need helmets in the U-S.
