Rumsfeld 'knows' too much
London-AP -- Being in the know is usually a good thing, but not in Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's case. Britain's Plain English Campaign has chosen Rumsfeld for its annual "Foot in Mouth" award for the most baffling statement by a public figure.
The campaign cited Rumsfeld's comment on Iraq, when he said, "Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns, there are things we know we know."
He added this: "We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns _ the ones we don't know we don't know."
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is a runner-up to Rumsfeld for saying this to a radio interviewer: "I think that gay marriage is something that should be between a man and a woman."
