Brown University Students Don't Feel Safe
(Providence-AP) -- Nearly half of students at Brown University say they don't feel safe on campus, according to a poll. The poll by the Brown newspaper The Herald was conducted in the wake of several attacks earlier this month. One such attack has been investigated as gay motivated.
Forty-five percent of students say they feel unsafe on campus. Fifty-eight percent of women say they feel unsafe, compared to 31 percent for men.
More than two-thirds of the student body approve of President Ruth Simmons, the poll found. The poll had a six-percent margin of error.
