Bogota, Colombia-AP -- A Colombian rebel group is claiming responsibility for kidnapping eight foreign tourists earlier this month. It's the first time anyone's claimed responsibility for the abduction.
The National Liberation Army, Colombia's second-largest rebel group, sent the statement to reporters. It doesn't make any demands.
The tourists were backpacking in an archaeological site when they were abducted on September 12th. One of the hostages later escaped. The Colombian military has been searching for the other seven -- four Israelis, a Briton, a German and a Spaniard.
