Iraqi official survives attack
Baghdad, Iraq-AP -- A member of Iraq's constitutional committee has reportedly survived an apparent assassination attempt that killed his bodyguard. A member of the Iraqi Governing Council says there was an attempt on the man's life. He says it's not clear who's responsible for the attack, but he calls it a result of the "fragile" security situation in the country.
A spokesman for the U-S-led provisional authority says the constitution committee member had been caught in cross-fire, but he wasn't hurt. The spokesman says a bodyguard was killed.
