Red Sox players and coaches rush the field to celebrate
(Boston-AP) -- Following the final out last night at Fenway Park, Red Sox players and coaches rushed the field to celebrate clinching the American League wildcard.
Kevin Millar danced around the infield, telling the fans, (quote) �
Boston, we love you!� Players including David Ortiz put on t-shirts and baseball caps declaring the Red Sox winners of the 2003 American League wild card spot.
Todd Walker told the thousands of fans who remained in the park that Boston would head to Oakland ready to win.
President and C-E-O Larry Luchino says the win is a great accomplishment for the Red Sox. He says the entire team is looking forward to the post-season.
The Red Sox last appeared in post-season action in 1999, when they lost the American League Championship series to the New York Yankees.
