Church blesses four-legged friends%)
San Francisco-AP -- The congregation included cats, dogs and at least one iguana. The Saint Francis of Assisi national shrine in San Francisco opened its doors to animals today for the sixth annual "Blessing of the Pets" ceremony.
The animals and their owners gathered up front as a church rector blessed the pets -- and sprinkled them with holy water.
John Matthews says he brought his four and a half-month-old black Labrador retriever because, as he puts it, "Everyone needs a good life and being blessed is a good thing."
During the twenty-minute blessing ceremony, not one animal made a sound.
