Bomb plot suspected in LA stashes of weapons, ammo, jet fuel
Monterey Park, California-AP -- A man currently behind bars in Los Angeles for vehicle theft is refusing to talk to investigators about pipe bombs, weapons and cash discovered in a subsequent investigation. Authorities say they think John Noster was planning a major domestic terror attack but they haven't been able to identify the target.
Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say the investigation that began last fall has led to the discovery of pipe bombs, jet fuel, assault weapons, smokeless powder and cannon fuse. They also found thousands of rounds of ammunition, including military tracers, and 188-thousand dollars in cash at several locations.
A spokeswoman for the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms says the bureau is investigating Noster for firearms and explosives violations and plans to present a case to federal prosecutors in the near future.
