Lawmakers seek study of LNG proposal
PROVIDENCE, R.I. Two Republican House lawmakers are asking GOP Governor Carcieri to create a task force to study a proposed Liquefied Natural Gas terminal in Providence. Representatives Bruce Long and Joseph Amaral also want more public hearings and an extended public comment period. They say the project raises safety and security concerns proponents have yet to address.
Keyspan is planning a 100 million dollar expansion in Providence, to allow LNG supertankers to travel up Narragansett Bay.
